1389 Chapel Street

This once elegant mansion dating from around 1869 fell into disrepair and neglect. The Hospital of Saint Raphael hired Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven to perform an exterior restoration for future use. While documenting and planning the scope of work Colin Caplan. then a NHS employee, discovered old photos of an older porch that existed before the addition of the storefront. The project then focussed on reestablishing the porch and giving the house back its former glory.
